Refund Policy

Refund process begins after we have completed evaluating your returned product. From the day you submitted your return request, This quality evaluation process may take up to 5 days. A refund notification shall be sent via email once the process is finalized

Your refund will be credited back to the original payment source used for the purchase.

Please note that the refund processing time may vary depending on the payment method:

If you paid via mobile money, the refund will be issued to your mobile money account within 24 hours.

If you paid via bank card, it may take 3-5 business days for the refund to appear in your account.

If you paid via voucher, your refund voucher will be processed immediately and you will receive an e-mail with your voucher code.

For items purchased on sale, the amount refunded will be the exact amount paid, and not its original value.

For example: If you purchased an item on sale for Ksh. 2,000 and its original value was Ksh. 4,000, we will refund you Ks. 2,000.

If you purchased an item with a Refund voucher, we will refund you the sum of the amount you paid and the amount of the TechBarn refund voucher.

Refund and Return Timelines

Please note that Business days are from Monday to Saturday, and do not include Sundays and Public Holidays.

The return pick up time starts from the day you make a request to return an item to the day one of our delivery associates makes the first attempt to retrieve the item that you will like to return. You can make a request to return an item by calling our customer service on +254 718 860520.

The refund time starts after your item has been retrieved by a delivery associate or dropped off at any of our pick up points to the day the issue has been confirmed by the after-sales team.

RETURNING AN ITEM

  • You can initiate a return within 15 days after delivery / collection for Eligible reasons or Change of mind:

    • Eligible reasons – wrong, damaged, defective, incomplete, wrong-size, and counterfeit items can be returned (Ensure items are reported within the shortest time possible to facilitate an easy return process).
    • “Change of mind”- You can return items if you change your mind but refunds will only be processed if the package seal is still intact and if the product is in no way tampered with. You can request a return if you have changed your mind about an item AND if it has not been opened for hygiene and security reasons.

    When returning an item, Ensure all seals, tags and accessories are left intact and item is in its original packaging.

    • If you have created a password on the device you wish to return, please ensure it is removed, otherwise, your return will be invalid.
    • Events and Tickets are not eligible for return.

    Get your refund faster when you drop off your return at the nearest TechBarn drop-off station.
    Your refund will be credited back to the original payment source used for the purchase.

    • If you paid via TechBarn store credit, the refund will be credited to your TechBarn account as store credit within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

To request a return:

1. Log into your Tech Barn Account

2. Select ‘Account’ in the upper right hand menu

3. Select ‘Orders’

4. Find the item you would like to return and click ‘Request a return’

5. Select the number of items you wish to return, the reason of the return and give us more details to help us identify the issue with the product

6. Select your preferred refund method

7. Select your preferred return method (pick up from your address or drop off at a pick up station)

8. Check your information and submit your return request

I submitted my return request. What happens next?

Once your return request has been submitted, it will generally be processed as follows:

1. The item you wish to return will be collected by Tech Barn according to the return method you have chosen: Either picked up by our delivery associate, or to be dropped off in the chosen Tech Barn station. 

2. Once collected, the item is verified by our Quality Check Team to validate your return claim, and ensure the return conditions (including the state of packaging, conformity with the product description, etc.) have been met. If your return request is declined, you will receive a communication to that effect, and your item will be returned to your initial delivery address.

3. If your return request is validated, your refund will be credited back to the original payment source used for the purchase.

    • If you paid via bank card, it may take 3-5 business days for the refund to appear in your account.
    • If you paid via voucher, your refund voucher will be processed immediately and you will receive an e-mail with your voucher code.

Please note that for our customer safety and protection, products cannot be returned except if you have received a wrong, defective, counterfeit, damaged, incomplete or expired item.

Please ensure you have selected the return method “I want Tech Barn to collect this item” (otherwise, you are required to drop the item at the selected Tech Barn station). If yes, please note our return collection timelines are as follows:

Your item will be picked up within 1-2 business days following the return request creation.

If your return request is validated, your refund will be credited back to the original payment source used for the purchase.

  4. If these timelines were already exceeded, and you have not yet received your refund, please contact us for support.

Note: that if your return request was declined, you will receive a communication to that effect, and your item will be returned to you.

Please note that refund methods cannot be changed once your item has been returned to us. However, if you still have the item in your possession, and are still within the return window, you may cancel the return request by speaking to our customer service team. You can then create a new request, and your refund will be credited back to the original payment source used for the purchase.

There are no charges for shipping a product back to Tech Barn.

At the moment, Tech Barn does not offer replacement or exchange of an item; however, you can still return an item and receive a full refund.

For items purchased on sale, the amount refunded will be the exact amount paid, and not its original value.
For example: If you purchased an item on sale for KSH 2,000 and its original value was KSH 4,000, we will refund you KSH 2,000.
